About this event
Raising Resilient Teens: Supporting Adolescents With Level 1 Autism
Parenting a teen with Level 1 Autism comes with unique strengths, challenges, and questions—especially as adolescents navigate increasing expectations for independence, relationships, school, and the transition toward adulthood.
Parents may find themselves wondering: When should I accommodate my teen, and when should I encourage them to stretch? How can I support independence without overwhelming them? And how do I help my teen navigate a world that doesn't always understand how they experience it?
Join Katie King, LMHC, a Licensed School Counselor and Mental Health Therapist , for a supportive and interactive three-hour workshop designed specifically for parents of teens and adolescents with Level 1 Autism.
Through education, practical strategies, experiential exercises, and discussion, parents will gain a deeper understanding of how autism can affect communication, emotional regulation, sensory experiences, executive functioning, flexibility, social relationships, and everyday family life.
Together, we'll explore ways to better understand your teen's individual needs, reduce unnecessary conflict, communicate more effectively, support emotional regulation, build life skills, and foster greater confidence and independence—while respecting and building upon your teen's strengths.
Parents will leave with a deeper understanding of their teen, practical strategies for navigating everyday challenges, and a clearer roadmap for supporting resilience, self-advocacy, and increasing independence.
