About this event

Our November program is with Linda Ann Vorobik, a botanist, professor, and botanical illustrator.

Through her 40+ year career, Linda Ann has seen plant names change and even change back again. Most of us have learned that the scientific binomial is more reliable than the common name given to a plant, but with the storm of taxonomic revisions and resulting name changes, many of us have had doubts! But do not fear, this is just science in action.

In this presentation, Linda Ann includes beautiful landscapes, wildflower closeups, and botanical watercolors of the plants and from the places that Linda has encountered throughout the west. She uses this imagery as a way to weave through the less enchanting story of how plants are named, and why the names change.

The Program will start at 10:00am but come early at 9:30 for socializing and snacks.
