  • Records show western Washington experienced catastrophic floods in 1906 with water reaching 10 feet—farmers used dynamite to change river courses, and local historians say these events remind residents that nature still controls the region's waterways.  FOX13

HEALTH NEWS

  • Bloodworks Northwest declared a Code Red blood shortage in Washington and Oregon as donations remain critically low and hospitals now have less than a one-to-two-day supply. The center urges local residents to book an appointment to donate + fill 29,700 remaining slots before the end of January.  FOX13

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Home sales in Whatcom County fell 5% to 2,302 in 2025 compared to 2024, with Bellingham showing a 1.2% drop to a median price of $755,000 + other areas experiencing steeper swings.  My Bellingham Now
