  • The 2025 Readers Care Fund in Lynden is nearly reaching its $30,000 goal with $29,780 raised from 87 donations as of 11 a.m. Monday Jan. 12; details include 15 donations of $500 or more (one of which was $4,000) and contributions will be accepted through Jan. 16.  Lynden Tribune

  • On Saturday, Jan. 17 a benefit concert featuring Charlie Partin and local bands will take place at Lincoln Theatre in Mount Vernon – proceeds support Owen's Foundation, which offers scholarships for music lessons and equipment and helps families with medical bills and athletic gear.  KAFE

  • The USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service report shows that warm temperatures and low autumn rains resulted in low snowpack across most of Washington, though the northwest region remains normal; officials warn that colder weather and steady precipitation are needed for recovery.  My Bellingham Now
