ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A structure fire at a home near Everson on Feb. 22 left no one injured but displaced two residents, prompting Red Cross assistance as crews responded at 6:10 a.m. near the intersection of E. Pole and Everson Goshen roads — the cause is under investigation. KISM

- ➤ Wild Women Week in Bellingham runs for two weeks from Monday, Feb. 23 until March 8 to celebrate International Women’s Day (free event). The celebration includes a film night at Lost Giants Cider Co. and offers outdoor activities for women and femme-identifying people. KAFE
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Gas prices in Whatcom County rose nearly 60 cents over the past month to $4.28 per gallon because California refineries are struggling with regulations + rising summer demand is expected to push prices higher, though they remain among the lowest in the region. KISM
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Invasive Species Awareness Week started Feb. 23 as the Washington Invasive Species Council hosts free webinars to help locals protect water from invasive species & weeds and insects. The sessions aim to share practical tips to stop species from harming local habitats. KAFE

- ➤ Seattle is launching four fan celebration sites for the 2026 World Cup starting June 11, where fans will enjoy large screens and interactive experiences — officials noted that fan zones are also planned in Washington cities such as Bellingham. FOX13
- ➤ Local Whatcom County high school teams are set to compete in the state basketball tournament. Lynden, Lynden Christian, Nooksack Valley and Lummi Nation will host games Friday and Saturday at their high school gyms + the matchups span multiple brackets. KISM
