- ➤ Friends of the Sumas Library will host an adult social on March 14 in Sumas to raise funds and ease stress from the December flood (this event replaces last year’s Valentine's fundraiser). Lynden Tribune

- ➤ WDFW warns Geneva residents against feeding deer after a cougar was seen killing deer near homes since mid-January (officials said intervention will only occur if pets or livestock are attacked). KAFE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Whatcom County flood managers presented an early action plan on Feb. 24 to reduce flood risks along the Nooksack River. The plan calls for channel creation, berm construction and levee improvements in Everson, Ferndale and other areas, with phased projects costing $182 million in the near term and $474 million over the long term. - ➤ Sumas Public Works continues flood recovery efforts as rain today creates ongoing challenges in the area; showers are expected early and occasional rain is forecast tonight (winds 10 to 20 mph and temperatures from 42°F to 47°F). Lynden Tribune

- ➤ WWU Vikings won both legs of their home doubleheader over the weekend to improve to a 7-6 record + Bellingham’s Myles Ludwig placed third in the state 1-meter diving event, spotlighting strong local high school athletics. KISM
