- ➤ Local residents will gain emergency response skills as the Community Emergency Response Team holds CERT basic training at Whatcom County Fire District 1 Station 82 (6–9 p.m. on Wednesdays from April 1 to May 20) to prepare for future emergencies. Lynden Tribune
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Ecology crews finished removing toxic heavy metals from the upland area of Harris Avenue Shipyard, and the in-water cleanup will start next year with a public comment period coming soon. KISM
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rainy conditions have forced Ferndale Public Works to close Smith Road between LaBounty Drive and Hovander Road, and Highway 20 near Diablo Lake is closed after rocks fell on it. WSDOT says cleanup will take time with no reopening date set. KAFE

- ➤ The Mariners are regrouping after a WBC game as they play five Cactus League contests ahead of their season opener next Thursday at T-Mobile Park, with no Opening Day starter announced yet & fans can catch further updates on game day. KISM
