- ➤ Ahmad Hamrah and Tahmina Zalmai—a refugee couple from Lynden who risked their lives aiding the United States in Afghanistan—are asking local residents for help to reunite with their infant daughter after they missed evacuation in 2021 when the Taliban rose to power. Lynden Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Since 2013, Recreation Northwest taught local residents about nature and cared for parks in Bellingham—its projects include the Hundred Acre Wood Outdoor Classroom completed in 2024. Today the nonprofit leads the Parkscription Program with the Bellingham School District, and it will expand the program to areas like Ferndale and farther east in Whatcom County. KISM
