  • An acclaimed downtown pizza and wine shop closed its doors Saturday when the owners moved back to Seattle. The restaurant had been in the Herald Building for less than two years and earned local praise, with chef Jordan Koplowitz (a James Beard Award semifinalist) boosting its reputation.  KAFE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • State aid applications for households affected by December flooding on Riverview Road in Lynden were extended until April 27; affected residents should submit an assessment of unmet needs to qualify for up to $1,100 in relief + lodging costs.  KISM
  • State crews continue clearing I-5 after a Mar. 19 landslide closed northbound lanes near the city. Drivers are urged to use SR-9 & SR-11 while officials work to clear boulders and stabilize the hillside.  FOX13

  • The Mariners will host the Yankees tonight as Luis Castillo makes his season debut at 6:40 p.m. on KPUG after splitting their series with Cleveland. King5 has partnered with the team to broadcast 10 free regular season games starting Friday, Apr. 10.  KISM
