ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On March 26, the Lynden Fire Department responded to a fire at Darigold’s powdered milk facility in Lynden that caused roughly $1.5 million in damages—Darigold confirmed there was no structural damage or injuries and that production is expected to resume soon. KAFE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Public Works begins its annual watermain flushing today and will move from the northwest to the southeast of Bellingham through May. Residents may notice temporary water discoloration or reduced pressure in their taps and are advised to run cold water for a few minutes if needed (water remains safe to drink). KAFE
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Unionized nurses in Bellingham voted last week to reject PeaceHealth’s contract that would have run until 2028 after a record 84% turnout. The union said it will resume negotiations around mid-April—warning that nurses may lose wages until a new contract is approved. KISM
