- ➤ Bellingham Beer Week kicks off Friday, April 10 at Wander Brewing with a party and runs for nine days at 14 local breweries with block parties + trivia nights, while April Brew’s Day is set for Saturday, April 18 at Civic Field parking lot to benefit the Max Higbee Center. KISM
- ➤ Hans Erchinger-Davis is retiring as chief executive officer of Lighthouse Mission Ministries, with his last day set for June 30— he has led the organization in supporting community programs. Lynden Tribune
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Crews continue clearing debris from a landslide that closed northbound I-5 nearly three weeks ago south of Bellingham, and now they are hauling debris so experts can assess the slide’s bottom while freight traffic is advised to use Highway 9. KISM
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Whatcom County’s non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 5% in January from 5.1% in December — the seasonally adjusted rate will be released next week and the February jobs report is expected in two weeks. KAFE
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lynden School District is hosting a town hall meeting Thursday at 6:40 p.m. in the district office board room to discuss a capital levy that, if approved, will fund upgrades to existing schools & increase property taxes by $1.09 per thousand dollars ahead of the April 28 election. KAFE

- ➤ The Washington State operating budget eliminated funding for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program despite a 2022 commitment, according to an April 6 United Way of Whatcom County release. Lynden Tribune
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Christian Health Care Center in Lynden plans to expand hospice care with The Hospice Suites at CHCC, a new nine-suite facility for residents and families. Construction will begin this spring and the suites are expected to open in fall. Lynden Tribune
