- ➤ Several law enforcement agencies in Whatcom County, including patrols in Bellingham, Ferndale & Lynden, are stepping up efforts this April during National Distracted Driving Awareness Month to enforce the E-DUI law that prohibits drivers from holding cell phones while driving, stopping in traffic or at a stoplight, with violators facing a $136 fine. - ➤ Over 8,200 ballots were mailed to Meridian School District residents last week for a nearly $71 million bond measure to replace the aging Meridian Middle School, which did not pass last November. - ➤ Whatcom County law enforcement agencies will increase patrols today in Bellingham, Ferndale and Lynden during National Distracted Driving Awareness Month—reminding drivers to keep their eyes on the road—and enforcing the E-DUI law that fines cell phone use at $136. KISM
- ➤ Whatcom County will host eight one-hour online water seminars starting April 22 at noon for up to 50 households (residential well users) impacted by water adjudication. Water rights consultant Aspect Consulting will lead demonstrations during the webinars and the state Department of Ecology will offer two in-person sessions in late May (Ferndale and Lynden). KAFE
