BUSINESS NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sen. Sharon Shewmake sponsored an amendment to HB 1217 that raises the rent cap from 7% to 10% (plus the consumer price index) after noting previous controls led to reduced housing supply; the Senate also narrowly passed the amendment and two others setting a 2045 expiration before both chambers work to reconcile changes for governor approval.  KISM
  • The North Cascades Highway between the Ross Dam trailhead and Silver Star gate is expected to reopen later this month after crews cleared most of the snow on April 10 — bikers may ride the passes this weekend but should be cautious due to rough spots and no cell service. WSDOT has not yet set a specific reopening date.  1170 KPUG
