- ➤ Chick-fil-A will open its new location on April 30 at 4030 Cordata Parkway near Bellis Fair Mall. The restaurant will serve Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. (drive-thru until 10 p.m.) and offers a free meal for anyone wearing cow print. KAFE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ FEMA will open a disaster assistance center at Sumas Advent Christian Church on Wednesday, Apr. 22 to help residents affected by December flooding apply for aid, operating weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. until the June 10 application deadline. 1170 KPUG
- ➤ State crews will move Bellingham Rock from I-5 as part of the Fish Passage Project to remove contaminated paint and let fish pass. They will drill, break, and relocate the rock to a local property over several weeks while drivers are asked to avoid the active work zone. FOX13
- ➤ *WSDOT* is still clearing a 15-mile stretch of Highway 20 in Whatcom County due to a landslide and road washouts, leaving travel uncertain as officials urge recreationists to avoid the area until repairs resume. KISM
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Health officials announced on Friday, April 17 that recreational shellfish harvesting is closed for all Whatcom County beaches because unsafe biotoxin levels were found in several areas; shellfish sold in restaurants remain safe. Some clams and oysters from Gomez Shellfish have been recalled in Mason County. KAFE
