- ➤ One person died and one was rescued when a sailing boat hit rocks near San Juan Island on April 19 and the Coast Guard pulled the man wearing a life-jacket from the water before taking him to a hospital while the other victim was found dead. KISM

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Monday night, Lynden City Council voted 5 to 2 to repeal a 1959 ordinance that started the city’s water fluoridation program after a motion for a November ballot vote was defeated by one vote. Mayor Scott Korthuis must decide within 10 days—otherwise, the change will take effect later in April. KAFE
- ➤ The Pacific Northwest Region of the USDA will hire wildland firefighters for the 2025 fire season — the agency is filling roles from aircraft pilots to hand crews and requires that U.S. citizens or nationals over 18 apply by April 24. KISM
- ➤ Lynden City Council voted 5—2 on Monday night to repeal a 1959 ordinance that started the city's water fluoridation program, and Mayor Scott Korthuis now has 10 days to accept or veto the decision before fluoride begins to be removed from the water supply in late April. KISM
