  • Paletería La Flor de Michoacán celebrates a 25-year legacy of serving traditional Mexican cold treats to local customers. Founded by Manuel and Norma Pérez over 30 years ago in Lynden (Whatcom County), the shop remains a cherished part of the community.  Lynden Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On Monday, May 4, a 17th gray whale was found dead on a remote Grays Harbor island, marking the first death this month. Researchers from Cascadia Research said factors such as strong currents — pushing carcasses ashore — may explain the unusually high toll following 16 April strandings.  FOX13

  • WWU's men's rugby team won the national 15s title after beating Iowa State 19-13 in Indianapolis yesterday. It earned its first championship and boosted local pride in the program.  KISM
