This guidance reminds locals to get ready in case a major eruption occurs.

Local emergency management officials remind residents to get ready for future volcanic activity from Cascade volcanoes after lessons learned from the Mount St. Helens eruption of 1980—its blast killed 57 people and caused major damage.
