- ➤ A Marysville man, 23-year-old Elijah Belmont, pleaded guilty to the 2023 murder of Henry King at Boulevard Park in Bellingham and his sentencing is set for 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 22 in Whatcom County Superior Court—he could face a life sentence and a $50,000 fine. KISM

- ➤ Bellingham Mayor Kim Lund and Whatcom County Executive Satpal Sidhu held presentations on Tuesday at Hotel Bellwether and answered questions about plans for a new county jail opening on July 4, 2028, cost cuts in city services outside police and fire, and downtown revitalization with new housing, bike patrols and a state of the art skatepark—both leaders noted that a report on reduced Canadian travel is expected next month.
