ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday, May 20, members of the Whatcom County Water Rescue Task Force rescued several people when they aided a disabled vessel and two canoers on the Nooksack River near Lynden Boat Launch — officials stressed that paddlers must wear life jackets to stay safe.  KISM

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • AltaGas challenged a ruling that sent its Cherry Point terminal expansion permit back for environmental review, arguing the decision lacked proper evidence. The first court hearing is scheduled for Jun. 26 (Skagit County Superior Court) as environmental groups appeal to broaden the review.  KISM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Washington reached a settlement with Homeaglow on Thursday, May 21 that will end deceptive membership practices in Whatcom County — the company must now clearly display its membership terms and let current customers cancel without fees.  My Bellingham Now
  • WSDOT will restore I-5 in Alger to a two-lane pattern by 2 p.m. today as crews work on a fish passage project, and the northbound on-ramp remains closed through May 31 ahead of Memorial Day travel.  KAFE
