ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On May 30 at 8:44 a.m., a commercial truck carrying bees rolled over on Weidkamp Road, closing it between West Badger and Loomis Trail Road—Whatcom County Sheriff's Office officials urged drivers to avoid the area due to the risk of swarming bees. Lynden Tribune

- ➤ Downtown Sounds returns for its 21st season, filling five downtown blocks every Wednesday evening from July 9 through August 6 with national headliners and local bands like Meta & the Cornerstones, Queen Mother, Veronica North and County Rose. Attendees will also enjoy food trucks, family-friendly activities and a newly expanded beer garden. KAFE
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The daughter of a Ferndale woman who died during the 2021 heat wave filed a lawsuit in King County Superior Court against seven oil and gas companies for their role in worsening the climate—she claims they hid risks that contributed to the state’s report of 100 heat-related deaths during that week. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting Monday, June 2, crews will build sidewalks, bike lanes, crosswalks and lighting along Squalicum Parkway in Bellingham, affecting access to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center and other clinics. Flaggers will direct traffic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily until construction ends in October—patients are advised to allow extra travel time and use the available parking garages. KAFE
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Crews will begin building sidewalks, bike lanes, crosswalks and lighting along Squalicum Parkway between Ellis Street and Birchwood Avenue on Monday, June 2, with work lasting until October. Access to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center will be affected—flaggers will guide one open lane from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.—and patients are advised to use the PeaceHealth Central and North garages.
