- ➤ On Tuesday, a search and rescue team from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island helped the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office rescue two mountaineers stuck on Mount Baker's North Face after a 62-year-old man lost a boot and crampon during the climb; they were taken to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center. - ➤ On Tuesday, two mountaineers stranded on the North Face of Mount Baker were rescued after a 62-year-old man lost his boot and crampon during his climb, with a Naval Air Station Whidbey Island search and rescue team assisting Whatcom County Sheriff's Office and transporting them to PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center (the team reached them in 20 minutes during an airborne training exercise). - ➤ Student workers at Western Washington University announced a hard deadline—giving the university two days to progress on union recognition—after a productive meeting on June 2, and they will meet on Wednesday to decide if they will resume their strike on Monday, June 9 if progress remains insufficient. 1170 KPUG

- ➤ The Port Commission voted 2-1 on Tuesday to terminate Rob Fix’s role as executive director so the organization could pursue new leadership—Tiffany DeSimone, the current Director of Maritime, was named Interim Executive Director to guide Port operations. KISM
