ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, a fire broke out in an apartment building near I-5 in Bellingham where two people were sent to hospital after one resident jumped from a second-story window while firefighters rescued another person and put out the blaze 30 minutes after arriving — the cause is under investigation. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Washington State Department of Ecology said the June carbon auction sold out when each allowance was priced at $58.51—up from $50 in March, and the $322 million raised will fund green-energy projects like electric school buses, solar installations and heat pump projects across the state. - ➤ The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife said the crabbing season will run from July 17 to Sept. 29 in Bellingham Bay and the San Juan Islands with fishing allowed Thursday through Monday. Officials set limits of five Dungeness crabs, six red rock crabs, and six tanner crabs — gear must be removed from the water by one hour after sunset. KISM
