A separate study showed single adults need nearly $110,000 a year to live comfortably — ranking Washington as the fifth-most expensive state.  KISM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Washington will receive up to $105.6 million over the next 15 years from the Purdue Pharma settlement as part of a $7.4 billion national agreement to combat the opioid crisis—most funds coming in the first three years and split equally between state and local governments for treatment centers and first responders. The settlement also ends the Sacklers’ control of Purdue Pharma and stops them from selling opioids in the U.S., adding to nearly $1.29 billion previously awarded to Washington.  KISM

  • The City of Bellingham partnered with home-sharing site Nesterly as part of Mayor Kim Lund’s executive order to boost affordable housing options for renters—users can sign up for free and search available rooms, with extra fees and background checks in place—ensuring proper verification for both parties.  KAFE
  • Washington state officials said personal data for 1.7 million Apple Health enrollees was shared with federal immigration officials without notice—raising concerns that the move could worsen barriers for noncitizens seeking legal status.
