Good morning, Bellingham.

A student from Lynden won the America250 Field Trip Contest among over 10,000 entries, earning Tillie Tinklenberg a trip to Kennedy Space Center as part of America’s semiquincentennial celebrations (a nod to national milestones).

Lynden is progressing on its wastewater treatment plant project as selective demolition has begun.

The $25.8 million renovation — set for 18 months — will update aging technology, raise treatment capacity, and improve water quality for the Nooksack River.

The City of Bellingham is accepting applications for tourism grants (valued from $5,000 to $100,000) to support events that attract visitors such as Ski to Sea and April Brews’ Day; applications are due by September 4.
