- ➤ On Saturday at 3:31 a.m., 55-year-old Hui Li from Surrey was fatally struck by a pickup truck while running on southbound SR-20 during the Ragnar Road Northwest Passage relay on Whidbey Island—investigators said the crash was caused by a pedestrian violation and that drugs or alcohol were not factors. - ➤ Alfredo “Lelo” Juarez Zeferino, a local farmworker rights activist detained by ICE since March, was granted voluntary departure by a Tacoma immigration judge on July 14 so he can return to Mexico—his lawyer said he may be in Mexico within the next week after Lelo chose self-deportation due to harsh detention conditions.
