- ➤ Bellingham will host family events with Kids Fest at Civic Stadium on Aug.2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a Taylor Swift-themed dance party on July 30 while the Community Court program that began on July 22 connects residents to services for housing, health, and employment. The City Council approved an equal service ordinance on July 21 and several public works projects—upgrading boat launch inspection gates, building a pollution treatment facility, replacing a water main, and converting parking on State Street—will soon improve safety and protect water quality. - ➤ A survey from the Bellingham Regional Chamber of Commerce found that more than half of the 60 local businesses have been hurt by a drop in Canadian tourism. Some businesses warned they may not survive without a rebound (the survey was released July 25th). FOX13

- ➤ Health and Community Services has temporarily closed swimming at Wildcat Cove in Larrabee State Park after high levels of enterococcus bacteria were found—bacteria from fecal pollution that may spread norovirus or E. coli.
