- ➤ The City of Bellingham is calling for local artists to apply for public art projects with budgets ranging from $50,000 to $195,000 and will host a park open house on August 6 at Bellingham High School—residents are encouraged to share ideas for playgrounds and trails. The Whatcom Museum’s exhibition by Heather Dawn Parks and the Femme Metal Collective runs until August 3—while summer events at Lee Memorial Park on August 6 and 8 and repair work near Lake Padden starting August 4 will affect parking and restrooms. - ➤ Officials report that Whatcom County now has over half its area in severe drought and more than 10% in extreme drought—up from one-quarter a week ago—while nearly three-quarters of Skagit County is affected. State officials added that emergency declarations remain in effect because water supplies have dropped below 75% of normal. KISM
