- ➤ An oil spill on August 3 temporarily closed part of the Interurban Trail after a fuel line broke at the Padden Creek Fish Passage Project and leaked several hundred gallons of diesel, with the city working with Ecology crews to clean up the spill—plans for reopening have not yet been announced. - ➤ Lummi Nation Police asked for help locating a robbery suspect seen early Sunday morning, Aug. 3 at Silver Reef Casino—none of the employees were hurt and he was recorded wearing a black T-shirt, sweatpants, baseball cap and sunglasses with tattoos on both arms. KAFE
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Whatcom County Auditor’s Office found a non-compliant contract in mid-May when the Port did not follow federal rules while awarding a $4.2 million project to Moffat and Nichol. Port officials updated protocols in June by adding a required scorecard+filing it with the Engineering and Contracting departments to meet federal requirements. KISM
