  • Boundary Bay Brewery will close its Railroad Avenue location in September after 30 years in business and will partner with Woodinville’s Black Raven Brewery to brew its Scotch Ale, Cedar Dust IPA, and Northwest Original IPA — seasonal batches of other recipes will also be produced. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Washington Department of Wildlife detected invasive European green crabs near Port Gamble and Port Ludlow and confirmed a green crab molt in False Bay on San Juan Island in June. The crabs have spread in coastal bays since the 1980s and may harm eelgrass and other native species — the department continues to track the situation.  My Bellingham Now
  • Cleanup crews continue work on Padden Creek after over 600 gallons of diesel spilled last week and wildlife responders recovered the carcasses of three coho salmon and one crayfish on Sunday. Local agencies will remove contaminated soil and enforce a stop work order until the new pump is operational.  My Bellingham Now
