- ➤ Habitat for Humanity of Whatcom County will host its annual Build Community Day on Oct. 4 in Kendall and Maple Falls — following a 2024 event in Everson and Nooksack where four home repairs were completed. Lynden Tribune

- ➤ North Cascades National Park welcomes visitors fee-free tomorrow for National Public Lands Day—no events are planned there while a volunteer event begins at Mount Rainier at 8:00 a.m. My Bellingham Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Bellingham will install a new traffic signal at the intersection of 12th Street, Mill Avenue and Finnegan Way in Fairhaven on September 29. Drivers will face one-lane closures with flaggers guiding traffic during construction—work will continue through mid-October. KISM
- ➤ On Sept. 12, elected officials from Bellingham and Langley City, B.C.—including City Council President Hollie Huthman, Council President Pro Tempore Skip Williams, Council Member Michael Lilliquist, and Mayor Kim Lund—took part in a tree planting to honor a long-standing friendship and shared care for the environment. Langley City Mayor Nathan Pachal said the tree stands for hope and reminds both communities of their duty to protect the air, water, and land. City of Bellingham
- ➤ Lawmakers passed HB 5390 earlier this year and the Discover Pass price will soon rise from $30 to $45 for state park visits. Birch Bay, Larrabee and Peace Arch State Parks will now accept the Lifetime Veterans’ Disability Pass — though the reservation fee exemption for veterans is removed. KAFE
