- ➤ Whatcom Community College and WWU announced a new partnership that guarantees WWU admission to any WCC student with a 2.5 GPA who completes one of two Associate's transfer degrees—application fees will be waived and eligible high school seniors will be automatically accepted. This agreement aims to simplify the transfer process between the two schools. KISM

- ➤ The Port of Bellingham moved ahead with plans in Fairhaven after its board met last week to propose building a new ADA-accessible hand-launch dock and small kayak beach near the Community Boating Center in 2026. The board will also study expanding the Cruise Terminal for small and mid-size vessels—its next session in early 2026 will focus on the Waterfront District. KISM

- ➤ Kroger issued food recalls after possible listeria was found in its smoked penne salad and basil pesto bowtie pasta—customers who bought these items on Oct 2 or earlier should return them for a refund. The company also expanded its recall of corn dogs after wood pieces were discovered, affecting products sold nationwide including at Fred Meyer. KISM

- ➤ Adrik Brashear of the Bellingham-based Muljat Group reported that Whatcom County’s median home price dropped to just under $624,000 over the summer — a decline of over four percent from last year that was seen in most areas except Nooksack Valley and Sudden Valley. He projects that lower prices, higher inventory and low interest rates will attract local buyers this fall and winter. KISM
