- ➤ A new study found that if the Big One strikes in the Pacific Northwest, it could trigger another huge earthquake along the West Coast—placing cities from Seattle to San Francisco at risk. Geologist Dr. Chris Goldfinger explained that the close timing between quakes on the Cascadia subduction zone and the San Andreas Fault makes it urgent for residents to secure their homes and prepare for shaking.
