GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Bellingham City Council adopted a new plan to fight the spread of invasive freshwater mussels that may harm local waters — officials say Whatcom County Council and Lake Whatcom Water and District Commissioners will vote on the plan soon.  KISM
  • Whatcom County announced a $3.6 million grant from the Trueblood Diversion Workgroup to expand supportive housing for residents with behavioral health needs in the new Lincoln Street development at Lake Whatcom Center. The funds will add 37 housing units, including 11 for people facing delays in restoration services after a criminal charge & involve contributions from the City of Bellingham, the state Department of Commerce and the state legislature.  My Bellingham Now

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba dunked the ball on the crossbar for his fourth touchdown to help the Seahawks win 27-19 over the Texans on Monday night—despite missing key players like linebacker Derick Hall and defensive back Julian Love.
