CULTURE NEWS

  • The Rocky Horror Picture Show returns to the Mount Baker Theatre today as part of the Halloween festivities with a live shadow cast—directed by Megan Sutton and Paul Henderson—bringing back a 50-year tradition. Audience members join in with interactive callbacks and games to help celebrate this cult performance.  KISM

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov Ferguson has directed over $2 million per week to support Washington food banks starting on Nov 3 until SNAP funding is restored—Bellingham Food Bank expects about $75,000 weekly to help ease a $1 million loss in food purchasing power as federal benefits are suspended.  KAFE
  • Bellingham City Council will hold a public hearing on the 20-year plan and proposed budget Monday, Nov. 3, where locals can submit written comments or speak, and the update offers federal shutdown resources, details on Whatcom Museum’s free event Nov. 7, safety tips for the clock change, and news of the Bellingham Public Library receiving a Peace Builder Award — all key issues shaping our community's future.  City of Bellingham
  • Whatcom Transportation Authority asked for public feedback on its proposal to update bus routes near Western Washington University in south Bellingham and Fairhaven— the planned changes include cutting four routes, adding more shuttle trips, and reducing wait times at three transfer points, with new service set to take effect next summer.  KISM

  • Jaxon Smith-Njigba was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month after scoring 417 yards and two touchdowns in three games while the Seahawks, Blue Jays and Storm gear up for big matchups.   • Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba earned NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October after recording 417 yards and two touchdowns in three games and he leads the league with 819 yards, making him the first Seahawk to earn the honor since Geno Smith—the Blue Jays won 6 to 1 in Game 5 as they push toward a championship while Dominique Malonga joined a new 3 on 3 league set to start on Jan. 5. Western’s women’s soccer and volleyball teams host games tonight in Bellingham and high school football rankings shifted as local teams vie for Northwest Conference spots.  KISM
