  • Mount Baker senior Mikele Fairbanks loves science and plans to study pre-med or neurosurgery in college while exploring areas like greenhouse science, environmental natural resources, and psychology. He said his plans might change as he learns more about each field.  Lynden Tribune

SPORTS NEWS

  • Friday Night Lights covers the local football regular season finale at Lynden High today from 3 to 7 as the Lions face Burlington-Edison and Whatcom County teams secure playoff spots. Meanwhile, the Seahawks will play the Commanders in DC on Sunday night while WWU’s basketball and soccer teams begin their seasons tonight in Langley and professional hockey and baseball games continue later this week.  My Bellingham Now
  • Today, the Seahawks get ready to face the Commanders in Washington DC on Sunday night after a bye week that put them in a tie for first—WWU basketball and soccer start their seasons in Langley tonight while the Blue Jays try to clinch a World Series win in Toronto today. Local high school football ends its regular season in Lynden during Friday Night Lights as the playoff-bound Lions play Burlington-Edison—other games include the Kraken hosting the Rangers and key college matchups scheduled for tomorrow.  KISM
