BUSINESS NEWS

  • Local breweries including Kulshan Brewing, North Fork Brewery and Beach Cat Brewing won medals at the Washington Beer Awards on Nov. 3rd; Larrabee Lager Company also earned honors for its Munich Helles and German Pilsner. Mari and Will Kemper from Chuckanut Brewery were inducted into the Washington Brewers Guild Hall of Fame — while Garden Path Fermentation took home six medals — marking a successful awards event for regional brewers.  KAFE
  • Today, Postal and More offers fast, friendly service in Lynden, Bellingham and Mount Vernon after the company bought and rebranded Time Keepers at the Fairway Center in August—owners Matt Hogan and Luke Harrison, whose children were once friends, said the purchase happened by chance.  Lynden Tribune

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Port of Bellingham finished dredging the I&J Waterway—one of 12 cleanup sites worked on by state and local agencies since 2000—and said crews will drive piles and build a new dock between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. as they expect the project to be completed by February.  KAFE

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Swinomish Tribe settled its long dispute with BNSF Railway under a new agreement that allows one crude oil train per day to cross the reservation & is expected to lower the risk of spills and protect marine habitat.  KAFE
