- ➤ On Nov. 19, Whatcom Family Farmers will hold its annual Farmers Rally in Lynden featuring water resources consultant Tom Tebb as the main speaker. The event will begin with a social hour at 4 p.m. followed by presentations at 5 p.m. and dinner in the Farm Pavilion (1775 Front St.). Lynden Tribune

- ➤ On November 6, the Lynden School Board approved a resolution that backs two Washington State initiatives on fairness in girls sports—drafted by its legislative committee with help from Board President Jim Verburg and Board Member Tonya Hickman—and the board voted 4-to-0. Lynden Tribune

- ➤ Powerful solar flares made northern lights visible in Washington on Tuesday night, and residents may see more displays today and Nov 13 if skies remain clear—these bursts of energy from the sun create the stunning light show. FOX13
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ WSDOT detailed plans to resurface the Guide corridor between I-5 and Kellogg Road after community input—construction will begin in spring 2027 and the public can share feedback through an online open house until Dec. 1. KISM
- ➤ Gov. Bob Ferguson announced Monday that overdue SNAP payments for eligible Washington residents were sent after delays caused by a government shutdown—residents now receive their benefits on the regular monthly schedule. The state said it is processing new SNAP applications submitted after Oct. 16 and will update on December benefits as soon as more details are available. KISM
- ➤ Gov Ferguson said the state caught up on SNAP payments delayed by a government shutdown and that eligible residents will receive benefits on schedule for the rest of November, while DSHS urged recipients to check their EBT card and is processing new SNAP applications received after Oct. 16th. - ➤ Today, the Lynden Christian girls opened the state soccer tournament with an 8-0 win over Cascade while the Mariners began their offseason changes as assistant GM Andy McKay left to join the Cleveland Guardians—NBA teams are also adjusting after the Dallas Mavericks fired GM Nico Harrison. The Seahawks will start Olu Oluwatimi on the offensive line after Jalen Sundell suffered a knee injury, and UW Huskies women beat Montana 87-56 as local high school volleyball and soccer contests continue. - ➤ The Mariners reported that assistant GM Andy McKay left for a new role with the Cleveland Guardians while the Dallas Mavericks fired GM Nico Harrison after a slow start. The Seahawks began using third-year center Oluwatimi after center Jalen Sundell injured his knee and high school girls soccer kicked off today with Lynden Christian winning 8-0. KISM
