COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Today, the City of Bellingham opened an online survey for community input on the design of a new waterfront skatepark beneath the Roeder Avenue Bridge. The city is partnering with the Northwest Skate Collective and Seattle based Grindline Skateparks — aiming for a completed design by early 2026 while an open house will be held Monday at 6 p.m. at Depot Market Square, though the park’s opening date is not yet set. 1170 KPUG
- ➤ Bellewood Farms and Distillery announced on Wednesday that free photos with Santa will be available every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. starting Dec.6 at 6140 Guide Meridian + the farm will host caroling, live music, a bonfire, warm drinks, and treats throughout December. - ➤ Cof& cafe in Bellingham, started by Heimy Gonzalez and Oscar Quintero, serves fair-trade single origin coffee and Colombian food along with handmade jewelry while offering a taste of Colombian culture. They plan to add a full kitchen and expand cultural events in the new year. KISM
- ➤ Sew Inspired Fabrics will open on Friday, Nov. 28, on Harris Avenue in Fairhaven and will offer eco-conscious apparel fabrics, natural fibers, recycled polyester and dead stock fabric. Owner Robin Robertson said the store will fill a gap left by JOANN’s closure and will host sewing classes for various skill levels + build a local creative community. KAFE
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Mt. Baker Imaging responded to a cyberattack that compromised personal data from over 348,000 state residents nine months ago—though it found no evidence of malicious use—by adding extra security measures while two local residents sued the company and its partner for not notifying patients sooner. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Students from Whatcom County schools visited the Northwest Washington Fairgrounds to learn about local agriculture during the annual Whatcom Farm Circle field trip—an event hosted by Whatcom Family Farmers that now welcomes schools from across the county. Lynden Tribune
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Whatcom County Parks and Recreation and Bellingham’s Public Works Department are seeking public input on a Forest Management Plan to protect more than 13,000 acres of forest near Lake Whatcom— the plan includes water quality protections, trail maintenance, and wildfire prevention and will remain in effect until 2029 if approved. Public comment is accepted until Dec. 1. KISM
