- ➤ WSU Whatcom County Extension 4-H held its Achievement Night on Nov. 14 at Laurel Church in Bellingham, where Barnyard Kids and Barn Buddies received the 4-H Club Reporter Award for 2024-2025—recognizing their monthly reports for the Lynden Tribune. Lynden Tribune
- ➤ Students from Lynden Christian High School worked at Schoolyard Park last week to lay wood chips on the new children's playground. City officials said park development along Edson and Glenning streets will continue in 2026. Lynden Tribune

- ➤ Conservationists warned yesterday that draft legislation amending the Marine Mammal Protection Act could lower safeguards for humpback whales, orcas and killer whales in Washington waters—experts said funding cuts and looser restrictions risk undoing decades of recovery progress after an Oregon whale incident. - ➤ WSDOT released travel charts that show heavy congestion on I-5 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. between Nov. 26 and Dec. 1—drivers will face additional delays on I-90 and US 2 and should plan their trips to avoid peak times. FOX13
- ➤ At a Tuesday meeting, the Port of Bellingham approved a year-long feasibility study by Global Ports Holding to review the potential for a cruise ship business—this study will check market demand and needed infrastructure improvements, and if a market exists, large vessels may visit years later. 1170 KPUG

- ➤ Brett Lott has boosted Bellingham Bike Polo through his nonprofit Incite Cycles by setting up weekly practices that began at an elementary school and later moved to a downtown parking garage after the city provided a shipping container for gear—he hosted a recent tournament where 29 teams signed up through a lottery, including four local teams, and he plans to expand the sport for more players and fans. - ➤ The Kraken lost 4-2 in Detroit after an early lead fell away and the Atlanta Falcons announced today that former UW star Michael Penix Jr. had season-ending surgery for a torn left ACL. Seattle signed Brenden Rice—son of Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice—while UW Huskies won 99-93 in double overtime and WWU Vikings travel to Honolulu for a late-night game. KISM
