HEALTH NEWS

  • State and local health officials have urged residents to get flu shots as this season may be rough because of a circulating strain and lower vaccination rates. They said vaccines are available at providers, pharmacies, community clinics and through a new nasal option while noting that last season 17 people died in Whatcom County—more than in the previous five years combined.  KISM

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Bellingham residents can enjoy peaceful walks around Lake Padden and bike rides along local trails as fall ushers in a quieter season. Indoor options include browsing books at Henderson’s and sampling seasonal blends at tea shops—local venues will also host energetic rock shows later in the season.  KISM

SPORTS NEWS

  • Seattle Torrent will play their first-ever PWHL game tonight against the Vancouver Golden Eyes while WWU women’s soccer hosts a national tournament semifinal tomorrow at Harrington Field.
