COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ After a second flood in four years, North Whatcom County residents rallied as over 200 volunteers helped clear water-damaged items and 480 homes received support requests as of Dec. 13. Lynden Tribune
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Nooksack Dairy and Deli opened in early November in Nooksack; cousins Kip Dunlap and David Hesselgrave launched the business and set up a memorial to honor Dunlap’s father, who previously ran Dunny’s Drive-In. Lynden Tribune
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Residents worried about disruptions at Glacier Post Office led Representative Rick Larsen to request clarity while Postmaster General David Steiner said on Dec. 5 that service will continue normally as staff work to finalize a new CPU contract after the previous contractor passed away— KAFE
- ➤ Local leaders including mayors from Everson and Nooksack met with Senator Cantwell and Rep. Larsen last Saturday in Everson to discuss last week’s flooding response. They called for federal funding to improve infrastructure and better protect riverside communities. KISM
- ➤ The Port of Bellingham announced it will install eight electric vehicle charging stations in the Granary parking lot as it partners with Rivian Adventure Network and PSE; the north entrance will close for work while the south entrance remains open. The chargers will be ready by February 2026. KAFE
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ In high school basketball last night, Bellingham girls edged Oak Harbor 50 — 46 in overtime while teams across the county posted varying wins and losses. Tonight, Mount Baker girls will host Sehome with tipoff at 7:15 on KGMI. My Bellingham Now
