COMMUNITY NEWS

  • WECU activated its flood relief program yesterday in response to flooding and severe weather risks in Bellingham—offering financial assistance to affected members and nonmembers.  Lynden Tribune
  • Lynden Community/Senior Center will receive support from the 2025 Readers Care Fund, joining three other nonprofits benefitting from a program that has gathered over 2,000 donations + $250,000 to help meet basic needs in north Whatcom County.  Lynden Tribune

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At its Dec. 18 meeting, the Nooksack Valley School Board reviewed the recent flood's impact on school facilities, staff, and students (no calendar changes are needed). Superintendent Matt Galley explained that schools will continue to follow the current schedule.  Lynden Tribune

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Woburn St fully reopened Dec. 23 between Lakeway Dr and Iowa St after pipe repairs and stabilization— Hannegan Rd is open Dec. 24 through Dec. 28 between Bakerview Rd and Van Wyck Rd for holiday travel while crews resume permanent repairs on Dec. 29.  KAFE
