November's OIGC Book Club will be discussing the book Fire Weather by John Vaillant with Debra Nichols leading our discussion.

This nonfiction book, a Pulitzer Prize finalist, focuses on the Fort McMurray, Alberta fire in 2016 and how climate change is impacting the current rash of extreme wildfires around the world. It combines survivors and first responder accounts with current wildfire research to give an accounting of the fire's rapid expansion and massive destruction. It also describes the broader implications of environmental and policy-related factors that led up to the disaster.
