Washington movie theaters must increase open captioning options after a new law went into effect on Jan.
1. The law requires theaters with five or more showings to offer at least two open-captioned screenings in the first two weeks — one held in the evening.
WSDOT said a section of the North Cascades Highway west of Winthrop reopened for recreation after a two-week closure caused by mud and debris slides.
The route from mileposts 171-178 is now clear while crews continue work on the nearby six-mile segment.
