ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A fire near Ross Lake has burned over 1,300 acres as crews worked to protect campgrounds on Little Beaver — Silver Creek, while dry conditions have worsened air quality. Northwest winds pushed more pollutants toward Maple Falls and Everson on Friday, and an air station near Mount Baker Ski Area reported unhealthy air since 2 a.m. KISM
- ➤ The Heather Meadows Visitor Center closed because air quality in eastern Whatcom County was unhealthy on Friday+ measurements ranged from 160 to 175 and reached 250 near Perry Fire, and the U.S. Forest Service said the center will remain closed until conditions improve. KISM

- ➤ Today, Friday Night Lights is live from Lynden High School as Whatcom County prep football kicks off and Bellingham plays on the road against Lynwood at 5:00—Logan Gilbert will start for the Mariners at 4:10 on KGMI.
